Donna’s sponsored students ready for Kathmandu

Last December’s edition of the news letter highlighted the generosity of Donna Smith from USA, a hiking enthusiast and now friend of FHC.

Donna was introduced to our cause by Anil (FHC President in Nepal) while guiding Donna on a trek to Everest Base Camp for Take on Nepal. She wanted to help so she donated enough money to FHC for the support of 27 students through the final two years of their senior high school (or ‘+2 Course’).

Completing these final years requires moving to larger urban centres, which can be too costly for families. This can mean the end of their child’s education, despite them having the aptitude and desire to go on.

These students were offered the scholarship based on their academic record so for them, getting the scholarship is more than just financial help to further their studies. It’s also a reward for their hard work at school. It fosters a sense of achievement that will empower and motivate them to excel even further.

We thank Donna Smith again for her help and congratulate the students on their achievements. We wish them well on the next phase of their educational journey.
