Som’s life story getting out there

Som and Kirsty at a book launch
August was Queensland Multicultural Month and Som and Kirsty Nancarrow, long-term FHC supporter and author of Himalayan Dreams: The Story of Som Tamang, were invited to give several talks about his life and the work of FHC.

Cairns Regional Councillor Rob Pyne gave a warm introduction at the Cairns City Library talk, which was well attended.

Som and Kirsty were special guests at the Centacare FNQ Hub, where Som reflected on his childhood and his work helping resettle Bhutanese humanitarian arrivals into Australia. The Rotary Club of Cairns also hosted Som and Kirsty as guest speakers and were impressed by the impact FHC has had on enabling children to attend school in Batase.

The book is available worldwide through http://www.kirstynancarrow.com/author and copies can also be bought from these businesses: Himalayan Dreams; Dare Waxing & Tanning and Art View Cafe in Cairns; Whileaway Books and The Book Lounge Port Douglas; Tablelands Books; Berkelouw Books, Leichhardt; Red Kangaroo Books, Alice Springs; and The Bookshop Darwin.

You can watch Som and Kirsty’s presentations on YouTube: Nepal and the work of Friends of Himalayan Children.
