Dolma Tamang, one of our FHC Hostel graduates lost her life in the recent Nepal floods.

Our heart goes out to her family and friends, many she made while living at the Hostel and attending the Batase school.

Dolma Tamang was one of the children welcomed into the FHC hostel because of her difficult family life. Her mother was incapacitated from the 2015 earthquake that rocked much of Nepal. She would eventually succumb to these injuries. Her father would find work abroad and remarry on his return. Dolma and her sisters where finding limited support from an uncle in Kathmandu so they were invited into the FHC Hostel, which provides full care (food and boarding) and access to the local school – girls getting access to a full education.

Dolma completed her education in 2021. She later married and moved away to her husband’s village of Syfru Besi. Syfru Besi was destroyed by the recent flood and Dolma tragically perished. A difficult life now cut short.

Som Tamang (founder of FHC), is making an emergency dash to Nepal to see if the FHC facilities can be of service to the huge number of disaster refugees. There is room in the FHC Hostel.
