Empowerment through education

"Our volunteer administration ensures nearly 95% of funds raised go directly to supporting disadvantaged children in regional Nepal."

The Hostel kitchen – Umila, Tokmaya and Relimaya

cooks in the kitchen at the hostel

An essential part of the running of the FHC hostel in Batase are the kitchen staff. Tokmaya Tamang, Urmila Tamang (cutting up the spinach) and Relimaya Tamang prepare breakfast for the children before they walk down to the school and dinner around 7pm. Lunches are provided by the school kitchen on school days. The FHC ladies also provide lunch on Saturdays (school free day). This is valuable employment for these ladies and their families.

Also helping (sort of) is young Sonam. He is Relimaya’s son. At 4-years of age he’s the youngest at the hostel and the favourite. He gets looked after by the other children. He has an older sister, Sanju, also at the Hostel.
