Empowerment through education

"Our volunteer administration ensures nearly 95% of funds raised go directly to supporting disadvantaged children in regional Nepal."

An important part of FHC’s functions are managed by our team in Nepal. They are dedicated volunteers that understand the charities aims and inspirations. Many have been helped by FHC through their education.

They manage the every-day operations of the FHC hostel, and they organise and manage the application and roll out of our scholarship programs. They go out into the communities to identify children who are at risk of missing out on going to school. This can be for many reasons – poverty, traditional expectations where girls education is not valued, and distance to the nearest school.

Sometimes this can mean convincing the parents, who often haven’t experienced school themselves, of the value of a full education, particularly for their daughters. Traditionally, girls are educated to Year 3 then brought home to labour on the farm or family business, and to look after younger siblings. Then in their early teens they are put into an arranged marriage and a life with the husband’s family.

FHC offers help to genuine cases. Those children most disadvantaged will be invited into the Hostel with full care while others will be assisted while they live at home.

“Today, our board members of FHC Nepal came together with dedication and passion to discuss the future of our projects and the wellbeing of the we serve.
With unity, vision, and teamwork, we are moving forward to create more opportunities for education, empowerment, and brighter futures in our communities.”
Anil (FHC President in Nepal)
